Offered by the Department of Tourism
The Department of Tourism invites applications for the Tourism Safety Monitor Programme, a 12-month learnership aimed at preparing candidates for careers in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Programme Details:
- Duration: 12 months
- 3 months: Theoretical (Classroom) Training
- 9 months: Practical Training at designated tourism hotspots
- Location: Applicants are encouraged to apply within their local municipalities or districts.
- Successful applicants will sign a 12-month contract with a service provider appointed by the Department of Tourism and will be stationed near their place of residence.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen (attach a certified copy of your ID)
- Aged between 18 and 35 years
- Must be unemployed
- Must have a Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Additional qualifications in Tourism or Environmental-related fields will be an advantage
- Must live within a 28km radius of a tourist site (proof of residence required, e.g. utility bill or letter from a tribal authority or ward councillor)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Must demonstrate a genuine interest in the tourism sector
- No affidavits will be accepted as proof of residence
- No faxed or emailed applications/documents will be accepted
