Job Summary

The Claims Administrator Learner will assist in processing and handling claims within delegated authority by ensuring claim validity, assessing liability, and negotiating settlements. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while maintaining cost containment and compliance within the short-term insurance regulatory framework.

Preference will be given to persons living with disabilities.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12).

Experience

  • No prior work experience required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Administration & Claims Processing

  • Perform administrative functions, including registering new claims and loading/authorising payments.
  • Examine and validate new claims and supporting documentation.
  • Assess claims in line with policy cover and ensure merits align with company guidelines.
  • Verify supporting documents for quantum and ensure calculations are accurate.
  • Maintain document diaries on the IMS system.
  • Update claim reserves according to reserving policy and follow up on outstanding documentation.
  • Analyse claims exposure and exercise sound judgment to determine appropriate settlement within delegated authority.
  • Approve claims within delegated authority after proper verification and validation.
  • Escalate complex or contentious claims to the Supervisor.
  • Manage external stakeholders and service providers in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date system notes reflecting the latest claim status.
  • Notify underwriting of policy gaps, omitted documents, and premium-related losses or gains.
  • Respond to customer enquiries promptly and in accordance with policy guidelines.

2. Agency / Broker Liaison

  • Negotiate settlement of claims within delegated authority.
  • Liaise with agents and brokers regarding claim progress.
  • Provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders.

3. Ad Hoc Duties

  • Perform reasonable additional tasks as required by the Line Manager.
