Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Cosmetic Cashier for their Noordhoek location. The primary responsibility is to enhance customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a premier shopping experience. This role involves recording customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system and effectively merchandising Dis-Chem’s cosmetic and beauty products through exemplary and consistent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • At least 6 months of experience in cashier or till operations
  • Proficient in computer use, particularly MS Office
  • Strong numerical abilities
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Availability to work retail hours

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize customers at the cosmetic till to ensure smooth and efficient transactions.
  • Assist with the merchandising of cosmetic products when there are no customers at the till.
  • Escalate significant and unresolved customer complaints to the manager.
  • Provide high standards of customer care and service.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Ensure personal and colleagues’ hygiene and presentation standards are met.
  • Implement and uphold the Dis-Chem 5-star communication principles.
  • Direct cosmetic sales inquiries to the Cosmetic Consultant.
  • Manage accurate cash flow.
  • Ensure all line voids and price adjustments are approved and signed by a supervisor.
  • Process merchandise exchanges and accept returns when authorized.
  • Handle all transactions, including cash, cards, vouchers, and other accepted payment methods.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the store’s beauty merchandise.
  • Process all loyalty cards, including those from our accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and E-Bucks).
  • In the absence of customers at the cosmetic checkout, please engage in merchandising responsibilities:
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness, merchandising, and display standards in both the window area and throughout the store.
  • Ensure that displays are arranged attractively.
  • Confirm that all products are accurately priced and labeled.
  • Follow stock layout guidelines.
  • Ensure that merchandising displays in the cosmetics section are well-stocked and organized.
  • Display the appropriate shelf price tags.
  • Deposit cash into the drop safe in accordance with Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures.
  • Remain vigilant and verify all payments following Dis-Chem’s verification protocols.
  • Comply with Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that your code and password are used solely by you, kept secure, and changed regularly.
  • Ensure that all outgoing stock/items are scanned and paid for.
  • Keep all cash securely stored within the till.
  • Handle daily takings with confidentiality, discussing them only with management.
  • Stay alert to recognize and report any suspicious behavior to management.
  • Keep all daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, card slips, line voids, and incomplete dockets) in the till drawer until they are placed in the drop safe.
  • Maintain housekeeping in accordance with Dis-Chem standards, ensuring your workstation is consistently clean and organized.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Follow Health and Safety regulations.
  • Comply with Dis-Chem’s Uniform and personal appearance policy.

  • Skills in promotions, personal selling, achieving sales targets, customer liaison, and product knowledge.
  • Comprehensive understanding of operating cash registers and managing cash drawers.
  • Proficiency in processing sales, refunds, and payments.
  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
