Role: Finance and Administration Assistant

Location

Sandton, Gauteng, South Africa (part of the greater Johannesburg area).

Job Summary

As a Finance and Administration Assistant, you are responsible for helping the Finance & Admin Department with key financial and administrative tasks, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with procedures, and supporting financial workflows for the property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Administration:

  • Manage procurement and requisitions, ensuring correct pricing and account allocations.
  • Confirm goods/services received, verify invoice details, and match with purchase orders.
  • Handle account queries and resolve issues efficiently.

Reporting & Controls:

  • Maintain up-to-date open orders and receipting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly variance comments, budget and forecast stats on time.
  • Monitor expenses and contract schedules for accruals.

Cash & Petty Cash Management:

  • Issue and reconcile petty cash weekly and ensure correct general ledger allocation.

Insurance & Claims:

  • Log insurance entries (e.g., public liability and general claims) as per procedure.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance and best practices, and escalate issues to management when needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Educational Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree, typically a BCom (or similar).
  • Experience: At least ~5 years in finance and admin work with emphasis on accounting processes.
  • Skills:
    • Organising and planning
    • Ability to analyse figures and reporting data
    • Use of financial and office software
    • Excellent communication and customer-focused mindset
