SAPS 2025 E-Recruitment Drive. Apply Now

SAPS Launches First-Ever Digital Recruitment for Police Trainees

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has officially launched its groundbreaking e-Recruitment campaign for 5,500 Police Trainee positions. This marks the first time in SAPS history that aspiring officers can apply through an entirely online system, revolutionising the way the organisation attracts and processes new talent.

A Historic Shift to Online Applications

This innovative move introduces an Electronic Recruitment System that allows young people across South Africa to submit their applications digitally. The platform is designed to provide easier access and streamline the application process for entry-level Police Trainee posts.

Fighting Corruption and Enhancing Fairness

The digital transition is expected to eliminate excessive paperwork, reduce corruption, eliminate nepotism, and ensure no applications are lost. This system also promotes transparency, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and a faster, more secure recruitment process.

Recruitment Timeline and Target Age Group

The nationwide e-Recruitment drive kicks off on 30 June 2025 and closes on 18 July 2025. SAPS is calling on young South Africans aged 18 to 35 to seize this opportunity to serve their country as police trainees during the 2025/2026 financial year.

Application Portal and Eligibility Criteria

Interested candidates with no criminal record or pending cases are urged to apply via the official SAPS website. Applicants must access the e-Recruitment portal from the drop-down menu to complete their submissions.

Specialised Recruitment for Graduates

SAPS will also be implementing a targeted recruitment approach, focusing on applicants with specific qualifications such as Law, Policing, Criminology, Law Enforcement, Forensic Investigation, and IT. These individuals may be placed in specialised units such as the DPCI, Crime Intelligence, Detective, and Forensic Services.

Comprehensive Screening and Selection Process

To uphold the integrity of the police force, all applicants will undergo a detailed selection process. This includes psychometric testing, integrity checks, physical fitness assessments, fingerprint screening, and medical evaluations to ensure only the most suitable candidates are enlisted.

Training and Monthly Stipend Details

Successful applicants will undergo a nine-month training programme at SAPS academies across the country. During their training, each recruit will receive a monthly stipend of R4,500 to support them through the process.

Success of the SAPS Project 10 000 Initiative

Since its inception, the SAPS Project 10 000—championed by President Cyril Ramaphosa—has resulted in the recruitment of over 30,000 police officers aged 18 to 35. This initiative plays a crucial role in strengthening the nation’s crime-fighting capacity.

Upcoming Graduates and Current Trainees

Currently, there are 5,500 police trainees in training academies, with some expected to graduate in August 2025 and others in December 2025. These efforts reflect SAPS’ ongoing commitment to public safety and youth employment.
